Event at the Rothko Chapel, Houston, Texas

At the Rothko Chapel, Houston Texas:

Tuesdays, Oct 12 and Oct 19 at 7pm

There have been thousands of murders in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico and nearby cities, and an escalation in the violence over the past three years. Issues facing communities along the U.S.-Mexico border include the presence of drug cartels and their business infrastructure, the increasing presence of U.S. security and law enforcement, and the migration of people fleeing the violence. This series goes beyond the headlines to reveal the challenging realities in Mexico, the role of U.S. policy and the implications for human rights. Programs on Oct. 12, and 19 feature prominent journalists and authors who address different aspects of border violence
.

If you live in the area this should be very interesting to be part of.

Desconocida Unknown Ukjent at Pallant House Gallery

Saturday Oct 2nd, Desconocida Unknown Ukjent opened to the public at Pallant House Gallery. With more than 500 labels embroidered in Chichester I hope many of you will come by and see the final installation. I received labels until the very last day and had to find the hammer and a pin again and again.

I want to thank everyone helping me install. To hammer one and one label onto the wall is tiring, but worth it when it all is up and you get the feeling of the mass simultaneously as you can see the individuality of each label created through the trace of the hand of each embroiderer. Thank you for continuing the protest and to spread awareness of the enormous impunity women in Ciudad Juarez continue to be exposed to and many women with them around the world.
